There are many rifles, but this one is mine. I have an assortment of firearms to choose from for hunting but my “go to” rifle for consistent accuracy is the same rifle chosen by the military’s elite snipers. The Remington 700 CDL SF and the Remington 700 XCR. You can order your Remington in many calibers, I chose 30-06 for the CDL SF and .338 LAPUA for the XCR. This is a rifle without equal and a superior performer in every way, the Remington’s have unmatched shot-to-shot consistency. I chose to go with a MasterPiece Arms (MPA) Bolt-Action Chassis.

Do not underestimate this rifle simply because it is a PCP air rifle. Available in .22, .25, and .30 calibers, these air rifles have become the gold standard in varmint hunting. It is also legal in all 50 US states without a license or registration. I went with the .30 caliber barrel. I am confident in saying that this is lethal for small game up to 150m. It is laser accurate and very quiet. FX teamed up with famed Czech Republic stock maker Aeron to house the Dreamline in an exceptional Field Target stock. The stock features all the adjustability, fine tuning, and options to tailor to the needs of both competitors and hunters alike.

The FX Impact X MKii is the pinnacle of air rifles. This Swedish made air rifle swept the world in 2017-18 picking up awards and accolades from hunters and competitors alike. The FX Impact X MKii now incorporates the new FX Smooth Twist X Barrel by default, which is a fully rifled barrel liner. Is has an Interchangeable Barrel Liner System allowing you to swap and change barrel liners in .177, .22, .25 or .30 caliber sizes. I went with the .25 caliber. It is laser accurate (up to 160m) and whisper quiet (suppressed). It is the perfect rifle for small game and effective all the way up to coyotes. This is by far the most versatile all-around rifle I have added to my collection.

The ATN Thor 4 (representing 4th generation) 640 4-40x Smart HD thermal rifle scope is ATN’s flagship offering. This isn’t a nightvision scope which requires an IR emitter, rather a true nightvision scope utilizing an ultra-sensitive thermal sensor. This gives you the option of seeing through the scope in “Black Hot”, “Color Mode”, “White Hot” . The advantage of a thermal optic over a scope that utilizes an IR image intensifying “Night Vision” (like my ATN 4k) is that you can use them day or night without a protective cover or risk of damaging the sensor array. However you cannot see a “normal” image through the viewfinder during the daytime, you are simply able to utilize the existing (thermal) optics during the day. For hunting at night, this is the most innovative offering currently available.

Because the ATN Thor 4 thermal rifle scope is the top model from ATN, it carries all the features and functions of any of the scope models below it, although with some features you make a trade for possessing the superior thermal optics. For instance, on some of ATN’s entry level scopes you can record up to 120FPS at 1080p, with the ATN Thor 4 thermal rifle scope you are limited to 30 and 60FPS at 720p. You still have other great features though like video recording to a SD card, while being able to stream the viewfinder to a mobile or tablet device via bluetooth. It has recoil activated video, a built in range finder function, one-shot zero function, a ballistics calculator, and ultra low power consumption for multiple day use before needing a recharge. However being that it is the flagship model it is a little disappointing that it doesn’t include a single additional innovative feature over its little brothers.

ATN 4k X-Sight 5-20x: Quickest Scope for Zeroing and Hunting

I didn’t have to be sold on this scope, the innovations and capabilities sold me. The functionality and features it provides is why I kept it. The ATN X-Sight 4k 5-20x Scope is Weather resistant, has a 18+hr battery life (I’ve never drained mine during 2-3 day hunts), ballistics calculations, built in range finder, built in compass, true one-shot-zero, variable distance profiles, built in 1080p scope camera (records @ 30/60/120 fps to your microSD) with the ability to stream the scope’s view to a mobile device (Android or iOS) via bluetooth, and …nightvision (utilizing an included IR emitter). I have minor gripes with this scope but the features definitely make this a stellar scope.
